Miss Add and I love white chocolate. Like seriously LOVE white chocolate. I have been telling her all about how Memaw used to make homemade white chocolate suckers and Petit Fours (little cakes covered in chocolate or white chocolate) as part of her cake business. That got us talking about how we love chocolate but white chocolate is just a whole different level- ha! Miss Add said whoever invented it was a genius!

Crock Pot Hot White Chocolate Notes

  • I substituted the cocoa from the original recipe and replaced it with white baking chips.
  • I used my 6 quartColt’s Crock Pot
  • The baking chips will taste different depending on brand. Choose your personal preference. The brand I used was Ghirardelli Classic White Baking Chips. No they are not a sponsor… they are just… in my opinion, the maker of THE tasting best white chips you can find at a grocery store. YES, I know they aren’t technically real white chocolate– but Miss Add and I are not complaining one bit. (Growing up, mom always went to a special cake shop to get her special melts to make her candies, but these have a flavor we enjoy.)
  • You will need to stir this recipe every 30 minutes until the chips melt completely.
  • We topped ours with marshmallows, but whipped cream would be good too!
  • As with any of our recipes, calorie counts and nutritional information varies greatly depending on which products you choose to use when cooking this dish.
  • All slow cookers cook differently, so cooking times are always a basic guideline and shouldalways be tested first in your own slow cooker and time adjusted as needed.

      Hi Beth!
I am not sure how it would do. I do know that it will likely separate and harden a bit when refrigerated because the baking chips and condensed milk will turn back into solids when not heated up. If you try it, I’d make sure and stir really good when reheating. But, your best bet would be to make fresh is my guess.

How long can you melt almond bark in a crock pot? ›

The best way to melt almond bark in a crock pot is to cut it into chunks, then cook it for at least one hour over low heat. The almond bark may still look formed after an hour, but when you stir it, it will reveal a liquid interior and will melt into the rest of the ingredients.

What is the trick to melting white chocolate? ›

White chocolate is sensitive to high temperatures. Stir Constantly: Add the white chocolate to the pan and stir constantly with a silicone spatula. This continuous movement helps to distribute the heat evenly and prevents the chocolate from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Why is melting white chocolate so hard? ›

The problem is that white chocolate — a blend of sugar, cocoa butter, milk products, vanilla and a fatty substance called lecithin — has a low burn point. White chocolate will burn at 110 F, while darker forms of chocolate melt at 115 F. Those few degrees can really make a difference.

Keeping Hot Chocolate Warm

If you are near an electrical outlet, a coffee pot warmer makes it easy to transfer the delicious beverage from your stove-top to the outdoors. Keep it low, and the temperature will be just right! However, a large thermos container is super handy if you're in a setting with no electricity!

What should you not do when melting chocolate? ›

An important step to remember: Keep the chocolate dry

Chocolate and water don't go together. Even a small splash of water in your melting chocolate will cause it to seize, becoming stiff and grainy instead of smooth and silky.

Is it better to melt chocolate with milk or butter? ›

Adding butter or oil increases the fat content of the melted chocolate, making it smoother and easier to work with. Perfectly melted chocolate will be smooth, silky, and have a shiny finish, says KitchenSeer. If your chocolate is too thick or clumpy, you may be able to save it with some room temperature butter.

How do you melt chocolate and make it runny? ›

Can I use almond bark instead of melting wafers? ›

Candy Melts®, candy wafers, chocolate coating, almond bark—they're all products made for dipping, molding, and coating without needing to temper chocolate. I'll call them candy wafers here, but if you see them sold under another name, don't be alarmed. They'll all work just the same.

What is the difference between almond bark and melting chocolate? ›

Chocolate boasts a velvety texture due to the cocoa butter content. Almond bark provides a smooth and creamy texture, but it lacks the richness associated with true chocolate.

Does white chocolate harden after melting? ›

Is white chocolate harder to melt than milk chocolate? ›

Dark chocolate typically has a higher melt point compared to milk chocolate due to its higher cocoa content. On the other hand, milk chocolate contains more milk solids and sugar, which lowers its melt point, making it more easily melted. White chocolate has no cocoa butter, giving it the lowest melt point.

Does white chocolate melt slower than dark? ›

Dark chocolate tends to melt faster than white chocolate due to its higher cocoa butter content.

What is the best white chocolate for dipping? ›

Use Pure White Chocolate: The best chocolate for dipping is pure baking chocolate such as the 4 ounce “baking chocolate” bars found in the baking aisle. I prefer Bakers or Ghirardelli brands.
